Afternoon Folks! I cannot say that 2020 has been a very nice time for any of us so far, nor can we even begin to understand how some people are being affected by these terrible times. But what I can do, is reflect upon the amazing work that you have all made possible through your contributions as pilots, students, mentors, instructors, chief tea maker, you name it and I guarantee you will have helped somewhere.   ATC Training We saw the beginning of the end for our Central Tr

British Summer Time (BST) begins Sunday 29th March at 01:00

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring At 1am on Sunday 29th March the clocks will advance one hour. This means that 1am will immediately become 2am, cruelly stealing from us an hour of our day. <insert traditional joke here> For those of you

Hi all, Yesterday, VATSIM.net announced that the pilot rating system will be restructured from June 1st. The new system will more closely emulate the structure of ‘real-world’ pilot training, and will increase the consistency of training provided by all Authorised Training Organisations (ATOs) through more strictly defined course syllabi. New Division Director

The last few weeks have been busy, as you can imagine, but even so, this message is well overdue. Firstly,  thanks to those people who have taken a moment to welcome me to my new job. I have agreed with Simon that my appointment should be of fixed term, lasting no later than the 1st February 2022. At this moment there is an opportunity to terminate the appointment or to re-appoint me as division director - but this is a choice to be made by the regional director.   I am grateful to Simon

Midweek Madness - Feedback Wanted!

Hi Everyone,   As most of you are aware, we've been a trialling a weekly staff up event at Gatwick for the last couple of weeks. So far it's been a great success, in fact it has already exceeded our expecations on just the amount of traffic we're able to attract on a Wednesday evening. We've had some valid feedback so far, including: Making the event banner clearer - i.e including 'Gatwick' in the title Moving the event around, so it's not just held at Gatwick every week

- Harrison Grose

Hello everyone. Having embarked upon the final year of my secondary education (year 13), I have found myself with limited time on my hands to commit myself fully to the marketing manager role that I occupy. Therefore, Loui and I have made the decision that it would be best, for all parties, that I step down from my role within marketing. It's been a special opportunity to work with @Loui Ringer and @Ben Wright, all the DSG and everyone who's been involved with graphics and live streaming -

Member Support Department

Over the past few months, you may have heard some rumours about a new department in the Division (known to some as Department X ?).  I am pleased to say that I can give some more information on our plans. Since we disbanded the Community Department we have been looking at ways we can best serve you, if you are looking for help and support in the Division. S1 Examinations

Hi all, In order to improve and standardise the quality of our S1 training, and in response to feedback which we have received from mentors, students, and controllers, we will shortly be introducing S1 practical examinations, in line with the process followed at S2, S3, and C1. This will not change the process of training, whereby members initially attend in introductory group session, complete eLearning courses, and receive one-to-one practical training.
