The division has concluded the recruitment for the vacancy of Operations Director. We have chosen to appoint @Jack Edwards to this role.

Jack has most recently been TGI Approach within the Training Department and has held roles in both the vRAF and in the VA/SOA team of VATSIM.net where he previously has coordinated operations across multiple agencies and countries. Via this and contributions to the operations functions in the UK he has indicated suitability for executing the role. During interview, Jack laid before us a clear vision for how the department can grow and thrive. He made it clear that he has ambitions to expand the operations team and further the capabilities of the division by providing robust and coordinated output that we have begun to establish recently.

Jack and I will work on a handover of the running of this department which we expect to take until the middle of November, with Jack taking over an increasing amount of responsibility until this time.

On behalf of the DSG, we would like to thank all candidates who have applied, their time to attend interviews with us and discuss their ideas. We wish Jack the best of luck with his role and for the wider success of the operations department.

Chris.

Eagerly awaiting to hear more about this clear vision on how the department can grow and thrive and the strategy that'll be employed to deliver this!

Despite there being the perfect candidate who knows the role inside out it gets given to no doubt a very nice guy but someone who has not contributed to ops in the past.

No wonder those who are capable, experienced and enthusiastic give up on this division...... @Harry Sugden despite being forced to jump through bigger hoops than real world job interviews for multinational corporations will no doubt disappear like the rest of the useful people.

Such a shame to see what was such a great division going down the plug hole...

What an absolute joke.

Certainly nothing against Jack, I'm sure you'll do well. But given the continued and previous efforts by @Harry Sugden I hope he's somehow recognised for his contributions. Given how poorly managed the role has been recently, maybe it's time to introduce some delegation to a department which has such an impact?

In times where the reputation of the division - and especially its leadership - is at an all time low, this is a remarkably unsmart decision by the DSG.

Nevertheless this is not on you, Jack, and I wish you the very best of luck in your role.
