Web Services Directors

With Ant leaving his position on the DSG I have been thinking on how best our web services should be managed. The work that the Web Services Department do for the Division has grown and grown over the past  18 months.  We are also part of the way through some major changes both to pilot and atc training as well as the move over to core. I have decided that it would best serve the Division if we split Web Services into two departments each with its own focus to help us with the changes

Training Department Changes

Folks, With the departure of Andy Ford as ATC Training Director, I am making some changes to the way training is organised in the UK. Merry Christmas....and other news

I want to thank everyone who has helped the Division this year whether it be flying in for an exam, mentoring, helping with sector files, document writing, staff roles, the list goes on.  You have all had a part in making this a great year for the Division. 2019 was another great year for the Division with more training, some great events and fantastic member engagement meaning that documentation and sector files were up to date and we were at the forefront of the testing for Audio for Vats

Folks Marketing and Community have always worked closely, and with the introduction to changes in the Community department this will continue at pace.   I have decided to merge the Marketing and Community departments.  This new department will be lead by Barrie Joplin. Training Director Resignation

Hi everyone, Over the past 5 years, I have had the pleasure of being part of what can only be described as a community teeming with enthusiasm, knowledge and the will to want to help others. As with most commitments, there comes a time when it is appropriate for the baton to be passed on. ATC Training Department Changes

Folks Unfortunately, Samuel James has decided to stand down as ATC Training Director.  Sam has been in post since October 2016 and has been instrumental in moving ATC Training in the UK to the next level.  Last year was one of our best for rating progression and this is in no small part to the work that Sam has put in, especially the implementation of the Training Groups from the old RTSs, the first stage of Central Training.  There is no great drama in Sam's departure and those of you who

The recruitment process announced here is now concluded and this vacancy has been filled. The DSG has chosen to appoint Harry Downton to the vacancy and he has agreed to join the team as the next Member Services Director. [Appointment] Training Directors

Following the conclusion of the recruitment process started here, to replace Dan Crookes I am pleased to announce the DSG has agreed to make two appointments: We have appointed @Darren Hillas Pilot Training Director. Darren has been the Pilot Training Manager since January 2021 and has been crucial to the development of the pilot training courses during this time. Division Conflict Resolution Manager

The appointment of Sean Reedman as the DCRM of the UK Division has now concluded.   Phillip Speer has accepted my invitation to take this role.   Sean has been a participant in running the division for a significant amount of time (circa 10 years) and has contributed many thousands of volunteer hours including as the division director. We are pleased to announce the return of VATSIM UK Live! for the 9th edition. GCAP Update 1 : Roster and Waiting List Changes

On 1st March, GCAP will be fully implemented worldwide. This brings some necessary changes to some of the processes in the UK as well as offers some opportunities. Updating you about all of these changes at once is not possible, so, today we are informing you about some of the first changes you can expect - the introduction of a Controller Roster and changes to Waiting Lists. Folks At the outset, I would like to point out that this post is targeted at a very few members however I thought it would be a good insight to everyone to let them see the behaviour that has been happening of late.
