ATC Training Staff Changes

Hi all, @Reece Buckley and @Nathaniel Leff are both leaving their roles within ATC Training. Reece has been an integral part of the team in the recent months in which he has been managing approach training as the only TGI. Nathaniel leaves us after multiple years running Heathrow training as he acclimatises to a career change. I wish both of you all the best in any future endeavours and look forward to seeing you around on the network. Nathaniel will be sticking around while we search

Resignation

Hi all, After almost 2 years in the staff team I have decided to step down as Approach TGI. I started in the New Controller TG alongside @Kye Taylor and @James Taylor (They are brothers) where we worked well and achieved lots together. I then moved to the Approach TG in March 2022 where I ran the training group on my own for circa 9 months. Despite being told there would be another TGI to support me in the near future I continued on my own until January 2023 when @William Jennings and

ATC Training 2022 Q4 + Year Review

There was generally some good feedback from publishing the quarterly stats when I did so last month. If this type of thing is something that you would like to see continue then please keep letting us know (by liking or commenting on this post or reaching out to me another way). S2 - 5 exams, 5 passed, 0 failed

ATC Training Staff Changes

Hi all, As I'm sure many of you have seen, there have been some staff changes within the ATC Training Department in the last month. @Kye Taylor has stepped down from his role in the Tower Training Group (resignation post). Kye, I know I've said this privately but I'll extend the message (even more) publicly, you've had a huge effect on the training and experience on the network of hundreds of members. The difference you've made during a difficult time cannot be understated, thank you!

Tower TGI Resignation

Hello all, Unfortunately, I have decided to step down from my role as Tower TGI. Joining the training team nearly two years ago, as TGNC's TGI, I have had the fortunate opportunity to meet some lovely people within the staff and mentoring team. With @Fergus Walsh at TGNC, we made it a mission to progress students through the OBS->S1 stage and during covid, we did just that!  With the TG TWR change, It was very difficult. Shortly after my appointment, I was soloing the training group

Waiting List Changes

Currently, all ATC Training Waiting Lists are ordered by list join date. Members on a list do not need to remain eligible for a training place while on the list. This means members on a waiting list who leave the network for a long period of time are returning at the top of a waiting list ahead of the members who have remained active within the division. In order to make the waiting lists fair for all members, from 21st December 2022, all members on the S2, S3 and C1 waiting lists will have

Changes to C3 Requirements

With the ever increasing demand for ATC Training in the UK and a relatively stable level of mentoring, we need mentors now more than ever. With this we have decided to add a fixed requirement for a member to have mentored in order to be eligible for a C3. We also acknowledge that many members contribute to our division in different ways and wanted to continue to represent that with the new requirements. The policy has been included below and is effective immediately. This policy has be

Training Place Eligibility Update

Our new theory exam requirement for training places has been live for  a couple of weeks now!  I would like to provide some extra detail on how this is implemented practically: ⚠️ - Whether you have passed the required theory exam is not currently tracked by the "My Waiting List" eligibility checker on the VATSIM UK Website. ⚠️ - If you meet all the other criteria for a training place other than passing the theory exam, the eligibility checker will still show you as eligible, but

CTS Theory Exam and Training Place Eligibility Changes

Hi everyone, As mentioned in my recruitment post, in the past couple of months I’ve been looking at what quick changes can be made in order to improve ATC Training. My main focus is maximising the use of mentors time - feedback from mentors suggests that they spend a lot of time teaching theory that is already available through other resources (Moodle, Syllabus, vMATS etc.). Explaining the practical application of theoretical concepts is an important part of the role of a mentor and we want

Heathrow TGI Resignation

Hi everyone, I have taken the unfortunate decision to leave my role as Heathrow TGI. I have loved people part of the VATSIM UK team for the past few years and will hopefully try it out again in the future, but with my limited amount of time currently and slight burn out from VATSIM, I feel that it would be selfish for me to hold on to the role, so therefore I am passing TGI on to someone with new and fresh ideas that can benefit the division. I joined the staff team in February 2019 (crazy

TG Tower Staff Changes

Hi all, Firstly I’d like to thank everyone for the kind messages following the announcement of my appointment as ATC Training Director. Having moved roles this left a space in the TWR team which a couple of people quickly expressed their interest in. Following a few discussions we have decided to appoint @Kye Taylor to the role.  Kye joined the Training Department 15 months ago as a New Controller TG Instructor. Having been involved in many projects including the development of th
