[Vacancy] Tower TG Lead Mentor

The ATC Training Department is looking to recruit an experienced mentor to the Tower TG, to act as Lead Mentor. You must as a minimum be a mentor at TWR level.

Role Description

In conjunction with other Lead Mentors / TG Instructors, the new Lead Mentor will:

  • Select and train new mentors;
  • Work to motivate the mentoring team and driving mentoring levels;
  • Maintain training standards in their designated group (inc. by ‘sitting in’ on mentoring sessions & exams);
  • Organise group seminars as appropriate;
  • Issue STVs in accordance with division policy;
  • Forward students for examination;
  • Issue training places to students;
  • Act as the point of contact for mentors within their designated group;
  • Work with the Operations department to develop and review ATC procedures and documentation where appropriate;
  • Maintain eLearning courses associated with their designated group.

Candidate Selection
The appointable candidate shall:

  • Have a passion for the network and are committed to improving the experience of the network for the members of our division.
  • Commit to spending around 5-10 hours to the role most weeks.
  • Commit to remain in the role for at least 1 year, though preferably longer.
  • Have a good level of written English.
  • Be a minimum of S2 rated an a current mentor at TWR level.
  • Be a home member of VATSIM UK 
  • Be a member in good standing.

An ideal candidate would also:

  • Have excellent knowledge of the ATC procedures for their TG;
  • Have experience teaching on the network but experience off the network is welcome.
  • Hold endorsements or ratings above the minimum requirement.
  • Have experience motivating and leading a team towards a common goal

A successful candidate will be expected to actively mentor and to have sufficient availability to respond to queries and manage the training group on a day to day basis (estiamted to be 5-7 hours per week)
