Hello! At this point, it's getting difficult to find new ways to start these posts 😅 I digress, let's get back on track. This week's Friday Night Fly-In will take place once again at Kemble. Brize Approach will also be open for all your LARS needs, or even come and try the RNP approach in your favourite jet!

  • Aerodromes: Kemble (EGBP), Brize Norton (EGVN)
  • Date and Time: 5th August 1800-2000z (or later)
  • Staffed positions: Kemble Information (EGBP_I_TWR), Brize Approach (EGVN_APP)
  • Requests or Extra Info: As mentioned, anyone is welcome to staff up adjacent units!
    • Adjacent ATSUs are Gloucester Approach, Bristol/Cardiff Radar, and Farnborough Radar
    • London Information is welcome as always!
    • The MSM crew will be opening Birmingham on Friday evening at a similar time while they set up ready for their big weekend, so Birmingham (EGBB) or even Coventry (EGBE) to Kemble (EGBP) could be a good route for those flying!

Pilot information for Kemble (EGBP) - available in UK eAIP, posted here for your convenience:

START AND TAXI

  • Departing aircraft can start at their own discretion. No need to call for start-up.
  • When ready for taxi, call up for aerodrome information and taxi. The FISO will provide runway in use, QNH or QFE, and taxi instructions.
  • All rotary traffic (helicopters) shall call for engine/rotor start.

CIRCUITS

  • Circuit Heights: Fixed-wing 1000 FT QFE, Jet circuit 1500 FT QFE.
  • Helicopters may operate south of Runway 08/26 (asphalt) for training up to 700 ft QFE, inside the fixed wing circuit.
  • The standard circuit patterns are Right hand Runway 08 and Left hand Runway 26.
  • All fixed wing GA traffic to join overhead. If you're unsure how to perform an overhead join, check this diagram here.

NOISE ABATEMENT

  • Pilots should avoid overflying the villages and hamlets of Kemble, Kemble Wick, Rodmarton, Culkerton, Ashley and Chelworth, wherever possible.

Hope to see some of you around!
