Hello,

Here are some screenshots of an Aberdeen SMR I have been making. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Harry

Hey Harry,

You did a nice job actually! May I ask what colors did you use? Did you use predefined colors from the SCT file or did you define them yourself?

Ahhhh, I've started one too under an issue that's logged in GitHub...

Oh... just saw that. Awkward haha

Just for reference, there is an existing Aberdeen SMR in the Sector File - so might be useful for saving time finding the data :)

Feel free to take that issue over if you want...

@Anastasios Mpithas, I just defined them myself with a bit of guesswork.

For airfields with no RW SMR it would be better to use some predefined colors e.g. smrBlue, smrGrass, smrYellow etc. It helps for easy ammendments when required. Find these at the beginning of the UK.sct file. It should not take you more than 5 minutes :)

Also remove the yellow lines, as they are 'extra', not required GEOs, and because the size of the UK SCT file is rising fast, we have to be cautious (slower loading speed on not Powerful PCs). Thats something I was told on my SMR.

->Just to clarify, because some think that I make these up, removing the not required GEOs is not something I approve, but it is actually an instruction from senior SCT File staff.

The yellow lines being the taxiways?

Yeah, forgot to clarify :P

I find it very bland without the taxiways. They are also quite useful at times

I never said I disagree, I actually like the taxiways.. I just told you what @Harry Sugdensaid to me with my Oxford SMR. If you ask me, I want the taxiways, however from what I get, people with non-powerfull computers face problems with the general size of the pack. I found Oxford bland aswell without the Taxiways, however it is up to @Chris Pawleyto decide whether or not will they be removed.

- only consideration is minimisation of data (perhaps by removing unnecessary geo lines) - but I'll leave the review to you. Oxford is definitely higher up in the list of small airfields that could do with a ground map, in my opinion - again, might need to watch data before a fancy feature maybe enables to controllers to remove ground maps from their sector file that they don't need, in order to reduce loading times!

By the way, the issue of EGPD changes is this: https://github.com/VATSIM-UK/UK-Sector-File/issues/433

If it is your first time contributing on the SCT File hit me or any other person involved on it to tell you about how to submit a pull request, make a commit, invite you etc.

Another thing; Are there some holds missing (D1A)? We usuallg add them all on a SMR ;)

Oooh looks like there's a mini team of sector file making people about! Looks nice :).

I created one for Nottingham EGBN a while back (like 2 years ago) - hardly use it mind you.

It isn't included in the SCT File, is it?
