Good evening all ,

As of 2259z this evening VATSIM UK will no longer be offering training for the current pilot ratings. During the next 5 days, ATOs and the central VATSIM pilot training team will be making the necessary changes to documentation and systems to reflect the new pilot ratings which are set to go live on August 18th 0000z.

Please see details below on how this affects you in you are currently training for a pilot rating in VATSIM UK:

P1 (Online Pilot)

The P1 (Online Pilot) rating now ceases to exist and the new P0 rating will take its place . If you have ever connected to the network as a pilot you will automatically receive a P0 rating on, or shortly after, 18th August 0000z. If you are currently training for a P1 rating then your training will now end as a result of the automatic issue of a P0 rating during the coming weeks. You may receive emails during the next few days from our Central Training System (CTS) - these emails do not require action and are solely a result of backend administration.(edited)

P2 (Flight Fundamentals)

If you are currently training for the P2 (Flight Fundamentals) rating with us, you will automatically be moved into active training for the new P1 PPL(A) rating. This process is likely to occur slightly after August the 18th due to the shortened time frame we have been presented with, but we are trying our absolute best to get you back training! Your progress from training towards the old ratings will be taken into consideration so students will not be required to start from scratch.

P3 (VFR Pilot)

If you are currently training for the P3 (VFR Pilot) rating with us, you will automatically be moved into active training for the new P1 PPL(A) rating. This process is likely to occur slightly after August the 18th due to the shortened time frame we have been presented with, but we are trying our absolute best to get you back training! Your progress from training towards the old ratings will be taken into consideration so students will not be required to start from scratch.

P4/P5 - vIR(A)

If you are currently training for the P4/P5 rating with us, then you will automatically be moved onto a P2 Single Engine Instrument Rating (SEIR) waiting list until we obtain approval to deliver training for the new P2 Single Engine Instrument Rating (SEIR). I estimate that this will occur during late Q3, into early Q4.(edited)

What happens if I'm on a waiting list for Pilot Training at the moment?

On August 18th we will wipe our waiting lists clean, and anyone wishing to train will be required to express their interest via our helpdesk.

From August 18th to September 18th, students currently on a waiting list will be able to express their interest in the new equivalent course, and will retain their place in the waiting list. This mitigates against student being disadvantaged who have been waiting a considerable period of time for training.

If you have any questions please see our forum post here or drop us a message on our helpdesk.

Thanks,

Dan ✈️

Hi Daniel,

I have noted that I have been removed from the P1 rating.  I am afraid I have not been well.  I had a road traffic accident that left me with a broken leg and bruises as well as concussion.  I am now well on the road to recovery but with all that happened I simply forgot about my registration for the P1 course.  I would ask for some flexibility if possible and would welcome the possibility to be re-instated and taken the course. I should have asked my partner to send an email, but there was other stuff to do.

I did send an email two weeks ago, but now see I responded to an auto-generated email.

Regards,

Stuart

Hi @Stuart Russell

I'm hoping you are recovering well from your accident. The VATSIM PTD (Pilot Training Department) have the pilot ratings.
If you was on the waiting list between August 18th to September 18th - You will be able to express interest in the new ratings.

I would suggest contacing the Pilot Training Department here at VATSIMUK, and express your interest.

Hope this Helps!

Ross.
