2024-01-25 - Stansted (EGSS) - Removal of Helicopter Aiming Point

Recommended Posts

Effective 25 January 2024

The helicopter aiming point, taxiway F north of FA and stands 514 to 519 are removed from the effective date. Hanger 7 no longer exists, therefore the northern Helicopter VRP is now ‘north of Hanger 12’.

All helicopter traffic shall be required to utilise the active runway for departures and arrivals. Departures should typically air or ground taxi to holding point V1 for departure. Arriving helicopters should typically vacate at V1 or U and should be instructed to “land long” to minimise runway occupancy time. Pilots can either be instructed to land “abeam” the taxiway, or given their vacating instructions with landing clearance:

“GABCD surface wind 220 10 knots, runway 22 cleared to land. Land long to vacate Uniform”

The coordination between APC and ADC is unchanged.

Documentation Status
The Stansted (EGSS) vMATS Part 2 will be amended at its next revision.
