Following the resignation of Harry from this role, I know that the entire staff team will wish him well for the future. He has been nothing short of a foundational piece of what the division has in terms of resources, knowledge and technology for controllers, especially in the enroute context but also more broadly. As Kieran noted, Harry's contribution is felt by all current (and many future) members, and we will miss his enthusiasm for all things VATSIM UK.

This marks the beginning of the recruitment process for a Training Group Instructor responsible for Enroute training. This role is the lead for training for the enroute positions which is usually the final major rating change in a controller's career. This role also has responsibility for the positions requiring endorsements after C1 training is complete.

Application Closing Date 10th December 2023 2359z

The Enroute TGI shall:

  •          have overall responsibility for training in the Enroute TG
  •          select and train new mentors
  • maintain training standards in their TG and organise group seminars as appropriate;
  •           issue training places to students
  •           be the point of contact for mentors with the Enroute TG
  •           Collaborate with the Operations department to develop and review ATC procedures and update documentation as needed
  •           maintain eLearning courses and other training resources associated with the Enroute TG

      The preferred candidate will have:

  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • experience motivating and leading a team towards a common goal
  • excellent knowledge of UK Generic and Enroute ATC Procedures
  • a passion for the network and are committed to improving the experience of the network for the members of our division.

      The successful candidate must:

  •           Be a VATSIM UK Division member
  •        Hold a C1 Rating
  •            Have the availability to answer emails, tickets and other messages on a daily basis and spend at least 5 hours per week on the role

Applications or queries are to be sent to jobs (at) vatsim.uk. Please state why you see yourself as a suitable candidate for the position, how you meet the desired attributes and what you can bring to the team. You should refer to the duties outlined and provide suitable (online and offline) examples where appropriate.

The successful candidate will receive guidance on our systems, policies and practices.

Applicants should note that further stages in the application process for this role will only be take place once a new ATC Training Director has been appointed, so there may be a small waiting period between applications closing and interview beginning.
