Waiting List Changes
Currently, all ATC Training Waiting Lists are ordered by list join date. Members on a list do not need to remain eligible for a training place while on the list. This means members on a waiting list who leave the network for a long period of time are returning at the top of a waiting list ahead of the members who have remained active within the division.
In order to make the waiting lists fair for all members, from 21st December 2022, all members on the S2, S3 and C1 waiting lists will have to remain active in order to remain on a waiting list.
Remaining on a Waiting List
In order to remain on a waiting list you must:
- Have controlled or mentored (network sessions only) at least 12 hours over a rolling 3 month period on UK ATC positions;
- Remain a home UK member;
- Complete the relevant theory exam prior to reaching the top of the waiting list.
When you reach 10th place on the waiting list, you will be informed by email. This is to allow you time to study the theory material and complete the relevant theory exam.
Removal from a waiting list
You may be removed from the waiting list if you fail to meet any of the criteria above.
If you are removed from a waiting list and have extenuating circumstances, please let us know via the helpdesk.
Activity Requirements
If you do not control or mentor for at least 12 hours on UK ATC positions in a rolling 3 month period, you will be informed by email. You will be given 30 days to regain the activity requirement. If you do not meet the requirement within 30 days, you will be removed from the waiting list.
The My Waiting Lists page will be updated to show your current hours in the last 3 months and when you will be removed from the list.
Note: As defined in ATC Training Handbook 5.6, at any point during your training - from when you join the waiting list to when you take your exam - you may request to defer your training place. Should you defer, you will retain your original list join date and will not be required to maintain the activity requirements to remain on the waiting list
Transferring Outside of the UK Division
Under the VATSIM.net Transfer and Visiting Controller Policy, VATSIM UK may only provide training to UK Home Members. Should you transfer to another division you will be removed from all waiting lists you are currently on.
Completion of Theory Exam
If you reach the top of the waiting list and a training place becomes available but you have not yet passed the relevant CTS theory exam, you will be contacted by a member of ATC Training staff. You will be given 7 days to attempt the theory exam. If unsuccessful, there is a 7 day cool down period, after which you will be given a further 7 days to complete the exam. This will continue until you pass the exam.
Should you not attempt the exam within the 7 days you will be removed from the waiting list.
Thanks,
Adam
