Training Department Vacancies [TG APP, DI, TDA]

The Training Department is now recruiting for 3 roles:

  • Approach TG Instructor;
  • Division Instructor;
  • Training Department Assistant.

Training Group Instructor role description:

  • Have overall responsibility for training within their designated group;
  • Select and train new mentors;
  • Maintain training standards in their designated group (inc. by ‘sitting in’ on mentoring sessions & exams);
  • Organise group seminars as appropriate;
  • Issue SxVs in accordance with division policy;
  • Forward students for examination;
  • Issue training places to students;
  • Are the point of contact for mentors within their designated group;
  • Work with the Operations department to develop and review ATC procedures and documentation where appropriate;
  • Maintain eLearning courses associated with their designated group.

The candidate must:

  • Hold an S3 rating;
  • Have experience mentoring within the division;
  • Be a home member of VATSIM UK;
  • Be a member in good standing.

A preferred candidate will:

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Have experience motivating and leading a team towards a common goal;
  • Have the attitude and enthusiasm to improve Training within the Training Group.

A successful candidate will be expected to have sufficient availability to respond to queries and manage the training group on a day to day basis. This is expected to be around 5 to 7 hours per week.

Division Instructor role description:

  • Are the point of contact for ATC staff on training issues;
  • Assist TG Instructors as requested;
  • Work on projects as requested by the ATC Training Director or ATC Training Manager;
  • Work with the Operations department to develop and review ATC procedures and documentation where appropriate;
  • Review mentoring and exam reports to maintain standards.

Division Instructors will also soon assume responsibility for training and validating transferring and visiting controllers.

The candidate must:

  • Hold a C1 rating;
  • Have experience mentoring across the division.
  • Be a home member of VATSIM UK;
  • Be a member in good standing.

A preferred candidate will:

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Have experience motivating and leading a team towards a common goal;
  • Have the attitude and enthusiasm to improve Training within the Training Group.
  • Have experience of working as an ATC Instructor in VATUK.

A successful candidate will be expected to conduct a reasonable number of mentoring sessions in order to maintain your currency, predominantly in the areas where demand for mentoring most outstrips supply while completing the responsibilities of your role. In total the role will also require around 5 to 7 hours per week.

We are also recruiting for a new role 'Training Department Assistant'

When the Pilot Training Development Flight Instructor role is not filled, the Training Department Assistant will also cover this role.

Training Department Assistant role description:

  • Organises Training Department mentor activities
  • Assists in developing the current Training Department Courses where necessary under the guidance and advise of the appropriate instructor.
  • Assists with day to day administration tasks as assigned by the ATC Training and Pilot Training Director

Pilot Training Development Flight Instructor role description:

  • Is accountable for the success and progression of Flight Training Exercises;
  • Works closely with the Pilot Training Manager on new and upcoming projects in order to ensure their efficient planning and execution;
  • Assist in developing the current Pilot Training Courses where necessary under the guidance and advise of the appropriate instructor

The candidate must:

  • Be a home member of VATSIM UK;
  • Be a member in good standing.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to commit a minimum of 4 hours per week to the role.
