Heathrow TGI Resignation

Hi everyone,

I have taken the unfortunate decision to leave my role as Heathrow TGI. I have loved people part of the VATSIM UK team for the past few years and will hopefully try it out again in the future, but with my limited amount of time currently and slight burn out from VATSIM, I feel that it would be selfish for me to hold on to the role, so therefore I am passing TGI on to someone with new and fresh ideas that can benefit the division. I joined the staff team in February 2019 (crazy how time goes) originally in TGNC and then in Heathrow. I've really enjoyed working with different people who all have a common interest and who strive for realism - that goes for both students and mentors who have certainly made my life so much easier!

Although time is a factor as to why I have made this choice, I have also completed everything that I wanted to do. I originally joined TGNC to streamline the training process and to produce the high skill of controllers that we have recently seen on the network which I am proud to say has been complete thanks to the wonderful team that I have worked with. At Heathrow, my main focus was to reduce the waiting list which has also been achieved.

I am significantly waffling now but after joining the Training Department, it has given me a completely new perspective on the network, allowed me to interact with so many fantastic people and has given me leadership experience which I will be eternally grateful for. I should also give a special thank you to some of my colleagues who made my adventure as a TGI so enjoyable by the help that you have provided: @Nathaniel Leff @Oliver Rhodes @Daniel Crookes @Chris Pawley @Harry Sugden @Kye Taylor @Ben Cook @Lee Roberts @James Yuen @Calum Towers @Adam Farquharson

I'm sure you'll see me controlling, causing a few conflicts or on Teamspeak. No particular order 😝

All the best and take it easy,

Fergus

P.S. I still hold the record for best ticket response times

Congratulations on a job exceptionally well done. Yours has been a tenure characterised by tenacity, rigour, and dedication. It is these qualities that have allowed you to realise - to the benefit of hundreds of members, with 741 mentoring sessions conducted (the sixth highest of all mentors since CTS records began) and 2062 tickets answered - the objectives that you set-out to achieve. It has been a privilege to work with you.

All the best for the future, and thank you!

Although I never got the chance to experience your Heathrow mentoring, having you as my OBS mentor put me on the track I am today. The mystery of the squawks resetting was certainly a memorable moment! Many times we said 'We fixed I- never mind'

An excellent controller, an excellent mentor, an excellent TGI, and of course a source of great knowledge! All the best!

Really awesome job that you've done for VATSIM UK Fergus! It's been a pleasure knowing you over the years, and all the best with dealing with my Daventry corridor work 😛
