Hi everyone,

Firstly, I hope everyone enjoyed CTP! It seems like the event was a gleaming success, and it certainly was enjoyable from the controlling side!

I just wanted to update you on a few remaining projects we hope to launch by the end of the year.

C1 Moodle Course
This is the final course to be released before having an entire library of eLearning courses for our S1, S2, S3 and C1 training programmes. We recently finished the content creation for this course, and it will shortly be going out for review by mentors and instructors before its final release.

New Training process for Visiting and Transferring controllers
Over the past eight months, the Training and Member Services departments have been working closely to overhaul the visiting and transferring process for the UK division. The new training process for visitors and transferees will comprise an eLearning course allowing students to self-study and consolidate their knowledge using an array of self-assessment quizzes, along with several mentoring sessions led by our team of Division Instructors and mentors.

Basic Training - S2
After the recent release and success of our S1 Basic Training, we are working on implementing structured lesson plans for the first 4 to 5 mentoring sessions of the S2 training programme. This new process would see students complete several structured sweatbox sessions, each tailored to introducing, demonstrating and allowing the students to practise a new skill.

As some of you may have noticed, the number of mentoring sessions being conducted over the past two months has reduced significantly considering the number of students we have in training. Of course, every year there are natural peaks and troughs that regulate the flow of training as the year progresses. However, at the moment, we seem to be stuck in a little bit of a rut.

If anyone is free to conduct a session over the next few weeks - even if it's only one - then the entire training team would be extremely grateful. I'm trying to hold off on pausing OBS_PT1 seminars and reducing the number of training places as this will only increase waiting times further. We have seen many great successes through quarters one and two of this year with the aid of our new Moodle courses and the effort put in by all of the mentors.

On a slightly more personal note - I understand entirely if people's time, energy and motivation are a little all over the place at the moment. Coming out of the other side of the pandemic has led to people spending their time differently, or, quite simply, wanting to spend less time at their computer. In addition, the work-life balance has taken a beating for some people, primarily through forced circumstances, making it all the harder to contend. I can only hope that everyone is coming through the other side of it and to see names - old and new - around in the training team. Once again thank you for all of your work this year!

Thanks,

Dan ✈️
