Valid 27 November 2025

For the Manchester Staff-Up, a temporary arrangement is made to allow for the opening of PC North only.

Since the position uses a non-standard callsign (MAN-N_CTR), it will not be recognised by VATSIM online maps and as such, EGNM traffic may need to be directed to the correct frequency when it is open.

Any errors in procedures should be reported to the Operations department via the Helpdesk or Discord.

Positions

This temporary instruction permits the opening of MAN-N_CTR, only when MAN_E_CTR is also online. When it is open, the Northeast sector is split between the two controllers:

  • the real world PC North sector is owned by MAN-N_CTR on 135.715 (see Figure 1), and
  • the PC East sector is owned by MAN_E_CTR on 133.8 with a reduced Area of Responsibility (see Figure 2).

Both MAN-N_CTR and MAN_NE_CTR use the same frequency, and so must not be opened at the same time.

PC East - MAN_E_CTR (Relief: MAN_E__CTR)

Frequency: 133.800 MHz
RTF callsign: Scottish Control
Coordination callsign: PC East

PC East has top-down responsibility for both PC Northeast and PC Southeast.

If PC North only is opened (MAN-N_CTR 135.715), then MAN_E_CTR becomes responsible for the remaining part of the PC Northeast sector.

PC Northeast - MAN_NE_CTR (Relief: MAN_NE__CTR)

Frequency: 135.715 MHz
RTF callsign: Scottish Control
Coordination callsign: PC Northeast
Top-down responsibility for: EGNM, EGNJ, EGNT, EGNV

PC North only - MAN-N_CTR (Relief: MAN-N__CTR)

Frequency: 135.715 MHz
RTF callsign: Scottish Control
Coordination callsign: PC North
Top-down responsibility for: EGNM only

Notes:

1) The dash (-) in 'MAN-N' is required to enable correct sector ownership.
2) This position cannot be opened at the same time as MAN_NE_CTR as they share the same frequency.
3) MAN-N_CTR will not be recognised by VATSIM online maps and as such, EGNM traffic may need to be directed to the correct frequency when it is open.

Other Sectors

Other standing agreements into/out of the PC North sector are as per the PC East ALD.

Aircraft inbound to EGGP/EGNR from the northeast

Controllers should be aware that there is no standing agreement for EGGP or EGNR inbounds via GASKO/POL/GOLES between PC North and PC West. A level must be individually coordinated between the controllers responsible for these sectors, as it would need to be without this event split.

Coordination with Adjacent Units

Adjacent Sectors/ACCs

When PC North is opened with the non-standard callsign, it is the responsibility of the controller (or PC Coordinator) to inform the relevant adjacent units/ACCs:

  • Scottish ACC - Talla/Galloway
  • PC Southeast
  • PC West

Airfields

Whenever PC North is opened with the non-standard callsign of MAN-N_CTR, APC and ADC units at affected airfields shall be informed.

Manchester

Departures with altered handoff orders:

  • POL/DESIG (05s): PC North only (135.715) > PC Northeast (135.715) > PC East...
  • POL/SONEX (23s): PC North only (135.715) > PC Northeast (135.715) > PC East...

PC North is the controller responsible for arriving traffic via ROSUN.

Leeds

PC North is the controller adjacent to Leeds ATC. As such, whenever PC North is open, all coordination/handoffs for departures and arrivals shall be with PC North (MAN-N_CTR).

Newcastle, Teesside, Humberside

Unlike when 135.715 is used for the MAN_NE_CTR callsign, the PC North only position using MAN-N_CTR does not cover these airfields top-down. Therefore, coordination is with whichever controller is with the controller covering MAN_E_CTR.

Sectors

The area in blue is delegated to PC North and is not reflected in the sector file ownership.
