  6. VATSIM UK is proud to present our first "UKFIS Afternoon" event! Trade the magenta line for some VFR Charts and a wet compass as you traverse the skies of South England. Fly cross-country or alternatively take part in the Pilot Training Department's latest Flight Training Exercise, taking you from Stapleford (EGSG) to Goodwood (EGHR) and testing your navigational skills as you go. Expect plenty of ATC from which you can request services should you desire. The following positions have already been booked by controllers on the CTS: EGLF_R_APP - Farnborough LARS EGMC_R_APP - Southend Radar EGKB_APP - Biggin Approach More bookings may be made after the release of this post, and these bookings can be viewed on the CTS. The Flight Training Exercise will be linked here closer to the event. You can find a brief summary of the FTE below, however unlike most FTE's it is not compulsory to follow the assigned route. For this event you have the freedom to fly anywhere in the UK, provided you start at Stapleford and end at Goodwood, and you will complete the FTE. Depart Stapleford (EGSG) via runway 12L/03R Route South-East on track to the Tilbury Docks Once passing the Tilbury Docks, route towards London Biggin Hill Airport (EGKB) After Biggin Hill, turn on track to the town of Guidford Once overhead Guildford, track the Midhurst VOR South towards Midhurst After Midhurst, proceed towards Goodwood (EGHR), joining the circuit to land

Cheers Lonz -------------------------OVERNIGHTER 23 - London Heathrow to São Paulo Guarulhos!-------------------------- BAVirtual is proud to present our Twenty-Third OverNighter Fly-In Event - Departing Saturday Evening of the 27th and Arriving Sunday Morning of the 28th July 2019. Well overdue and well anticipated, our Overnighter long haul event routes us South of the Equator to the beautiful City of São Paulo located in the Southeast Region of Brazil. We will recreate the BA0247 service, departing from our beloved hub Heathrow. Scheduled Duration is 11 Hours 55 Minutes with slots starting at 20:00z (21:00 GMT) meaning first arrival should arrive around 07:55z (04:55 BRT). Being that this year we celebrate 100 years of our real world counterparts existence, 100 Experience Points will be up for grabs for those who do not give in to the temptation of sleep! We welcome you all for a night of laughter, banter and "controlled" misbehaviour. Join us for BAVirtual OVERNIGHTER 23!!! São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport São Paulo/Guarulhos–Governador André Franco Montoro International Airport (IATA: GRU, ICAO: SBGR), often referred to as GRU Airport, or simply GRU, is the primary international airport serving São Paulo. It is popularly known locally as either Cumbica Airport, after the district where it is located and the Brazilian Air Force base that still exists at the airport complex, or Guarulhos Airport, after the municipality of Guarulhos, in the São Paulo metropolitan area, where it is located. Since November 28, 2001 the airport has been named after André Franco Montoro (1916–1999), former Governor of São Paulo state. The airport was rebranded as GRU Airport in 2012. In Brazil the airport was ranked first in terms of transported passengers, aircraft operations, and cargo handled in 2012, placing it as the second busiest airport in Latin America by passenger traffic (36,596,326 in 2016) after Mexico City International Airport. Guarulhos has slot restrictions, operating with a maximum of 45 operations/hour and being one of the five airports with such restrictions in Brazil (the others are São Paulo-Congonhas, Brasília, Belo Horizonte-Pampulha and Rio de Janeiro-Santos Dumont). Since 2012, the airport has been operated by a consortium composed of Invepar S/A, Airports Company South Africa, and Infraero. Some of its facilities are shared with the São Paulo Air Force Base of the Brazilian Air Force. Runways and taxiways GRU has two parallel runways. Runway 09R/27L is 3,000 metres (9,843 ft) long and 45 metres (148 ft) wide, while runway 09L/27R is 3,700 metres (12,140 ft) long and 60 metres (200 ft) wide, after being widened in 2015 to better receive the Airbus A380. The field elevation at the airport is 750 metres (2,459 ft) above mean sea level. Runway 09R/27L is used preferentially for landings and runway 09L/27R preferentially for takeoffs, but the Airbus A380 uses the longer and wider latter runway for both landing and taking off. There are high-speed exit taxiways on both runways that allow for traffic to depart the runway at higher speed to allow better efficiency for landing and takeoff traffic. As of 2014, there was an average of 650 takeoff and landing operations per day at the airport. Terminals The airport has three passenger terminals, numbered 1, 2, and 3, according to their order along the airport access road when arriving from the city. Terminal 1 is the smallest and simplest. It has only domestic flights, and as of July 2016, only two airlines operate there: Azul and Passaredo. Terminal 1 has no jet bridges and no direct access to the other terminals, which can only be reached by a free shuttle bus. Terminal 2 is the oldest and largest, and for many years was the sole airport terminal, although its two wings were considered different terminals at the time. It has the majority of domestic flights and to Latin American destinations, as well as a few intercontinental flights. Terminal 3 is the newest and most modern. It has only international flights and concentrates most long-haul intercontinental traffic, in addition to the LATAM Group's Latin American flights. Five of the terminal's gates can accommodate the Airbus A380. Terminals 2 and 3 are directly linked by a walkway. The airport also has a large air cargo terminal with a built area of 97,000 square metres (1,040,000 sq ft) and capable of handling any type of cargo, including refrigerated and hazardous shipments. Navigational aids There are two navigational aids that GRU traffic uses. The Bonsucesso very high frequency omnidirectional range with distance measuring equipment (VOR-DME) is located 9.1 kilometres; 5.6 miles (4.9 nmi) to the east of GRU. Hello Team VIRTUAL NATO (www.virtualnato.org) would like to invite YOU to a small event organised, the vNATO Flypast 2019 at the Royal International Air Tatoo 2019 by 19th, 20th, 21st of July 2019 at RAF Fairford EGVA. We are looking to do an event at EGVA RAF Fairford and I was told to get in touch here and with a military ATC controller to discuss the possibility to control the airport for this event as it may come multiple VSOAS. ATC required: preferably GND TWR APP The event in question is the RIAT 2019 NATO flypast 2019 at RAF Fairford on 19th, 20th and 21st of July 2019
  9. Hello! As part of a new marketing scheme, we would like to promote controllers staffing up UK aerodromes. The objectives of this new scheme are to increase pilot turnout by advertising staff-ups on social media, and as a result, we should also see a bit more variety in the aerodromes being staffed. If you want us to advertise your staff-up, then you must read this post carefully. It is important you understand that by posting your staff-up on the Forums, you agree to be held responsible for the planning and rostering of controllers as necessary for the entire duration of the staff up. It is important to note, that staff-ups are not formal ATC events, therefore you will need to book any positions via the CTS booking system. It is also worth noting that staff up bookings will have no priority over existing bookings in the CTS, and will be subject to the same booking rules found on the VATSIM UK Website. For this reason, it is recommended that you plan your staff up, and book positions accordingly several weeks in advance, as this also gives the marketing team plenty of time to advertise your staff up, and as such increase pilot turnout. Due to the fact that staff-ups will be advertised online (and to prevent a poor reflection on the division), you must provide full ATC coverage at your chosen aerodrome, lasting the entire duration of your planned staff-up. For the purposes of staff-ups, we are defining full coverage as the following: Ground Tower Approach Delivery and area control is not required for staff-ups, however bear in mind that this simply a minimum requirement, and it is preferable that you get as much coverage as possible to maximise turnout and quality of service. All staff-up posts will be manually reviewed by the marketing team prior to being made publically available, this is to prevent abuse of the system. Examples of such abuse could include (but is not limited to) poor pilot feedback, not showing up to a previous staff-up, and staff-ups that are excessive in length or frequency (see booking rules on VATSIM UK website,). When creating your staff-up post on the forums, please ensure you adhere to the following, as this makes sure all posts are clear and consistent. Title format [Day Month Time] STAFF UP - Aerodrome + ICAO e.g. [1st April 1900-2100Z] STAFF UP - Manchester EGCC Use the UK date format (Day before month) Use the full month name (i.e December not Dec) Remove colons from times (i.e. 1800-2100Z, not 18:00-21:00Z) Include a hyphen between event times Include a "Z" to indicate that the time is in Zulu Block capitalise "STAFF UP" and the airport ICAO code Capitalise the first letter of the month and aerodrome Post Content - Please copy and fill out the following template to ensure that details regarding your staff up are unambiguous. Aerodrome: As per title, include name and ICAO code Date and Time: Same format as the title e.g 1st April 1800-2100Z Staffed positions: Note that GND, TWR and APP is mandatory e.g EGLL_2_GND, EGLL_S_TWR, EGLL_N_APP, LTC_CTR, LON_SC_CTR Requests or Extra Info: Will you be simulating any special operations?
