Role
The Marketing Department is the public face of VATSIM UK - we are responsible for planning all events, managing VATSIM UK’s social media profiles, as well as creating graphic and video content for promotional use. Our primary goal is to consistently deliver high-quality events, which meet the demands and expectations of our members, that showcase the Division, and maintain VATSIM UK’s well-regarded reputation.
By joining the Marketing Department, you will become a part of the event planning process, working closely with our neighbours, and other vACCs, in order to deliver successful events. You will also be responsible for managing a large social media presence, and increasing the visibility of the Division to new, potential members.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is keen to learn and progress within the Department. The successful candidate must be able to commit at least 2 hours per week to the role, however, during busy event periods, this time commitment can be larger. They must also have no serious disciplinary history within VATSIM, or VATSIM UK.
Previous experience in project management, marketing, or social media management is beneficial, but not essential for this role - training and guidance will be provided where necessary. Skills with software packages such as Adobe Photoshop, and video editing programmes are also desirable, but not essential. The ideal candidate would be a well known, respected member within the Division, who is able to maintain an active presence on Discord.
What you will be doing
We want to provide the successful candidate with numerous opportunities to expand and develop as time progresses. Initially the successful candidate can expect to:
- Manage the VATSIM UK social media outlets to announce events and AIRAC changes, as well as posting general engagement related content.
- Oversee the General Aviation Club events and activities, working alongside the Pilot Training Department to satisfy the needs of our GA pilot community, as well as the Marketing General Manager to ensure GA events are integrated well within the event calendar.
Additional tasks will include working with the Marketing General Manager to:
- Curate a diverse event schedule, which appeals to as many of our members as possible
- Organise and execute events on the VATSIM Network.
As the successful candidate gains experience and confidence within the role, they can also expect to:
- Manage a team of graphic and video designers, to ensure all projects are completed on time, to high standards.
- Be responsible for organising and executing events from the UK to North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
- Work closely with the Operations Department, and the ECFMP, to help implement pre-tactical planning measures, and ensure event workload is manageable for controllers.
