Evening Folks!

It’s that time again to have a look at what we have achieved last quarter.

We’re fast approaching the end of the year and we’re still full steam ahead. Over the past few months, we have seen some new, and some not so new.. faces join the Training team.

@Ben Cook has taken over from @Josh Howker as Training Group Instructor (TGI) for TGNC.

@Sebastian Rekdal has taken over from @Phillip Speer as TGI for Enroute.

To carry on the trend of new faces we have some great opportunities coming up in both the Division and Training before the year it ends, so keep your eyes peeled out on the forum.

ATC Training:
⁃ Introduction of a brand new Shanwick Moodle course streamlining the process of obtaining an Oceanic Rating.
⁃ The introduction of Training Evenings in conjunction with the Marketing Department with the aim to give students who are training on quieter aerodromes the opportunity to experience higher traffic levels and more frequent mentoring sessions.
⁃ The introduction of our new Area Separation Standards, these new standards bring our Area operation and training in-line with more realistic procedural separation.
⁃ Initial development of a new Observer Part 3 (OBS_PT3) has begun, in order to ensure that S1s are prepared sufficiently before they control on the network by increasing their exposure to the network.
⁃ Preparations for Audio For VATSIM... (of course)

Pilot Training:
⁃ Our P1 (Online Pilot) Training material has been updated and additional documentation created in order to prepare current and further students for the changes Audio for VATSIM brings.
⁃ The continued success of our P1 (Online Pilot) rating group sessions.

We are very keen to bring on new mentors to the Pilot Training team so if anyone would like to get involved please don’t hesitate to ask and if the Training team! Mentoring the Pilot courses is a great way to improve your mentoring skills with such a wide variety of topics on offer.

Training (General):
- Development of a Training area of the forum which will provide students, mentors and training staff with a place to publish new training changes.

Training saw its peak number of students engaging in training over the Summer with that trend continuing into September.

A huge thank you from myself to everyone who has made contributions to Training this quarter and throughout the year. I continue to be amazed by the commitment and dedication of our members, this was especially evident at the FlightSim Show at RAF Cosford this year.

As always, the door is always open (I removed it from its hinges...), so if anyone ever wants to get involved with training or has any questions please do let one of us know ?.

Thanks,

Dan ✈️
