Six months down; six to go!

Firstly, to all those who’ve had their head glued to a textbook for the past few months, welcome back! And to those of us who’ve had to listen to the perpetual sighs of students... hallelujah, it's over!

Here’s what the Training Department has been up to over the past three months:

April:
With several members of the team focusing on academic exams, things were reasonably quiet on the ATC side of the fence.
Pilot Training led most of the developmental work for April, with all of its efforts focusing on the upcoming vIR(A) - virtual Instrument Rating (Aeroplanes) - our new programme to allow students to gain their P4 and P5 ratings together. Development on the new style of P1 training (consisting of a theory seminar and a practical session, similar to the programme used in S1 training) came to a close this month with the hope to implement in June.

May:
Development across the department remained slow due to ongoing academic exams, with those not involved taking a well-earned break (and a KitKat where appropriate)! Nevertheless, much to our surprise, the number of mentoring sessions conducted remained in triple figures throughout the month!

June:
This was a very exciting month for the department, with great progress being made by our Web Team on a new administrative panel and training system. We also welcomed two new Division Instructors, @jamiepaine and @srekdal, who will be working across the division to assist TG Instructors and mentors where necessary, as well as on a range of long-term projects.
The aforementioned vIR(A) has now entered its final stages of development, so ‘keep your eyes peeled’ for an announcement on that! We also started training our P1 students with the ‘new style’ of training,

Statistics:

Sessions:
April - 170 (255 hours)
May - 138 (207 hours)
June - 114 (171 hours)
Q2 Total - 422 (633 hours)

Exams:
April - 3 (100% passed)
May - 7 (86% passed)
June - 7 (86% passed)
Q2 Total - 17 (88% passed)

As always, I cannot express my thanks enough for everyone's commitment to the Training Department! It has been a great year so far with lots of new faces appearing, and I look forward to seeing what the rest of this year brings!

Thanks,

Dan ✈️
