E duobus unum: Merging Waiting Lists
Hi all,
At the beginning of 2017, in the delightfully entitled post ‘Exitus Acta Probat’ (Latin for ‘the end justifies the means’, from the poetry of Ovid, if you’re interested), Sam announced the merger of the old RTSs into the Training Groups (TGs). One of the main reasons for doing so was to reduce the discrepancies in waiting times between the RTSs.
In the same spirit, and following discussions with students, mentors, and staff, we have now merged the S2 and S3 waiting lists for TG1 and TG2.
What you need to know:
- When a place becomes available anywhere in the division, the student at the top of the combined waiting list will be offered it, irrespective of their ‘originally requested’ TG.
- Students always have the choice of accepting or declining a training place as offered, and may choose to defer until a place is available at their preferred TG/aerodrome (though will be required to wait for longer until a place is available there).
- You may see yourself move down significantly on the CT System’s list (as there are more people in it), but should also see that you move through the waiting list faster.
-
The eligibility requirements for S2 training will be set to 35 hours total on UK DEL/GND positions (the ‘12 hours in the past three months’ rule will remain in place).
- Until the end of March 2019, S2 students who meet the original S2 requirements will remain eligible.
- The requirement will be expanded to S3 training, which will require 35 hours total on UK TWR positions (the ‘12 hours in the past three months’ rule will remain in place).
- Students joining the S2 or S3 waiting list will no longer need to state a preferred TG.
