Hi all,

It is with great pleasure that I would like to welcome Oliver Rhodes into his new role as General Manager - ATC Training. Oliver will be leaving TGNC and TG Heathrow to manage the day to day running of ATC training and will be working closely with myself to help continue its development. This role will allow the day to day running of training and the development of training to be split between 2 people. This will enable the department to run in such a way that day to day activities will not slow down development on future projects. Over the past few years, the potential of ATC training has been demonstrated by its Directors and we have every intention of continuing to extract that potential. 

Here is a small insight into the process of recruiting Oliver onto the Staff team,
Daniel: "How did you find out about VATSIM Oliver?"
Oliver: "I thought it was an article about Value Added Tax"
Daniel: "Oh.. Great.... welcome to the team"

With that being said, please join me in welcoming Oliver Rhodes to his new seat!

Thanks all!

To clarify:

  • @James Yuen will be taking over the day-to-day administration of TG Heathrow for the time being - we're not ruling out the recruitment of another TGM, but it's not something we're looking to do imminently;
  • @Josh Howker and @Tom Szczypinski will absorb the role I have performed in TG New Controller - with the reduction in waiting times we've seen over the past few months, we believe that two TG staff will be able to handle the workload from now on;
  • Despite what @Daniel Crookes may tell you, I'm not a tax law enthusiast...

I'm planning on spending the rest of this year 'getting to grips' with the areas of ATC training with which I'm not already familiar, and hopefully have some more 'concrete' changes and improvements for you in 2019!
