VATSIM UK is happy to invite you back to our weekly Midweek Madness rotation.

This second week of the rotation takes us up North to Manchester. This is a major hub for Ryanair and easyJet, so has plenty of short connections to Europe as well as domestic links in the UK. It also sees a large amount of international flights from the likes of Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Saudia, and Virgin Atlantic. Our controllers will be online to guide you in or out of one of Manchester dual parallel runways!

Midweek Madness takes place from 1700-2000z every Wednesday, following the rotation below:

  • London Gatwick
  • Manchester
  • London Heathrow
  • Feature Week (Open to vote)

The event always proves to be a hit with pilots and ATC, we hope to see plenty of you joining us on the localiser this Wednesday.

Controllers please note this a rostered event.

This is the third week of the rotation which takes us to London Heathrow. The busiest airport on the VATSIM network is even busier in real life - known as the meat grinder by controllers, it operates at full capacity from 6am to 11pm where the night restrictions come into effect. You can find yourself as close as 2.5 miles from an aircraft on final approach, so precise flying and quick braking is a must! Heathrow’s 5 terminals serve airlines from every corner of the globe, so the number of possible routes are endless.

This is the first week of the rotation, and as such we are returning to Gatwick; home to some of Europe's largest airlines, including British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, TUI, Virgin, and Norwegian - there's something for everyone. Whether you'll be doing a 30 minute hop to Jersey or an 8 hour flight from the Caribbean, you can expect nothing but the best from our air traffic controllers. Expect plenty of land-after clearances and be hard on the brakes, as Gatwick's only runway is pushed to capacity.

      Hi guys,

Just wanted to write a big thank you to the event organisers and controllers yesterday.

The quality of control from all the London sectors and aerodrome controlelrs was really superb. Really proud to be part of this divison.

Although I had the good ol' TOGA P3d Crash as I experienced windshear on final approach which ended the flight prematurely, I had a fantastic time on the arrival (KLM10QM).

Thank you again to the excellent controllers.
