Q63 is full of 'em! AMMAN (Ammanford), WOTAN (Wooton-under-Edge), MALBY (Malmesbury), SIREN (Cirencester), KENET (River Kennet)

One on P2 as well, OKESI (Oaksey, I shall forever pronounce it as such). SALCO (Salcombe) on the London-Brest FIR boundary, as well as LIZAD (Lizard Point, Southernmost point of the UK Mainland)

Weren't we clever back in the day! As @Alex Hodgkinson says, we don't get this privilege anymore. Thanks Eurocontrol.

I am personally a MASSIVE fan of ITVIP, IDITU and IXURA. So easy to say. So meaningful. Uh, just so catchy. LOVE 'EM! 😍

"Route Biggin, Koksy and report you're BIG KOK to Maastrict Radar 132.205"
I promise I'm only slightly childish.

The Geographical ones are quite nice, because it gives you a sense of where they actually are.

BENSU => Benson
KIDLI => Kidlington
COWLY => (kind of near) Cowley
BOVVA => Bovingdon (not sure if this counts lol)
HEMEL => (kind of near) Hemel Hempstead

I'm a fan of ESTRY (in the Ribble estuary), which is the first point for all Blackpool departures onto N864 or towards the DTY CTA (realistically anything that isn't going North).

If you turn the wrong way when they've made it that obvious, then you truly can't be helped.

  • WOTAN - Wooton Under Edge
  • DAWLY - Dawlish
  • ERMIN - Ermington
  • MOODY - Modbury
  • MALBY - Malmesbury

Correct. A few of those are quite obscure too:

- DASSO = Dassault Aviation

- VIKAS = Vickers (VC-10)

- OSTER = Auster

- HORKA = Hawker Siddeley Trident

EKLAD is an EGCC departure, supposedly chosen so controllers can say 'By EKLAD' and relive the days of Boddingtons being the Cream of Manchester! Also in the area, LOVEL in the vicinity of Jodrell Bank and the Lovell Telescope.

BENBO, HAWKE, HARDY and DRAKE in the English Channel

When I originally flew VASTSIM in early 2000s there were a lot of North Sea routes which all had links - BEENO, TOPPA and DANDI lead to KOMIK. Presumably there was a big re-cast of routes in my 15 year absence as most of them have gone now.
