South West UK based VA Severnair, in collaboration with VATSIM UK, are once again proud to present "South West Overload".

Over the weekend of 17th - 19th May, ATC services at Bristol, Cardiff, Jersey and Newquay will be coming live from a conference room in Weston-Super-Mare providing a seamless service to all flying to, from and over the South West of the UK. For this event, as with previous years, all controlling at these four airfields will only be conducted from the event itself by the Overload Event team only.

We look forward to seeing you on our scopes!

Of course, control at all the other airfields in the SW and French Islands are available all weekend for anyone else who wants to play.

I *think* this our 10th year of this event although it has its real roots in @Mike Dean's parents hotel not long after the war.

Not long until this event now. You may see some of the positions online slightly earlier than advertised on the Friday; if so then you can assume the event has begun and get flying.

Please also bear in mind that we will have to break for circa 1 hour in the evening for food, but we'll be straight back on to provide a proper, professional & realistic service.

Look forward to seeing many of you bombarding us throughout the weekend.

You mean I've got to drive all the way to Weston Super Mare this morning? Just to get a pint? Sheeesh, good thing I've got some gardening gloves 😂

All gone rather well so far with good traffic levels throughout from those that wanted to contribute to an excellent weekend's activity. Jolly big thanks to all the traffic who came to play :)

Some stats for the weekend:

swoverload-stats1000.png

The figures for the 18th are split to reflect the two sessions run (pre/post dinner!).  These figures do not include overflights handled by LON_W/LON_WN.

Thanks to all for flying and your continued support for this long running event!   Until #swoverload2020....

A most enjoyable weekend, my 24 hours of LON_W_CTR flew by! Was a brilliant laugh and great to have so much competent traffic.

I highly recommend to anyone in VATSIM-UK to attend one of the several  Live controlling events throughout the year, it’s  great to hang out with like minded people and learn so much from the guys that control regularly.

Thanks to Dan for organising another brilliant event.

Flying at these is brilliant fun as well cos you can throw things at the bloke making a hash of the your vectoring whilst he's also releasing noxious gasses into the atmosphere. A few tonnes of methane were added to climate change this w/e mostly by the Hon Members for Lon_W and EGGD_App #DoomBar.

My highlight of the weekend was the pilot who responded "say again" to an instruction on text 😆 #ColleyWindUp

A very nice weekend it was too.

Enjoyed my time on Bristol TWR , Glad I was up wind of EGDD APP and LON W but EGFF APP had plenty of Fabreeze on hand as a just in case.

Looking forward to the next one .

Thanks @Dan Bishop-Adams for setting it up keeping it running smoothly.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I played any part in the production of any gasses.

      Hi guys,

Just wanted to write a big thank you to the event organisers and controllers yesterday.

The quality of control from all the London sectors and aerodrome controlelrs was really superb. Really proud to be part of this divison.

Although I had the good ol' TOGA P3d Crash as I experienced windshear on final approach which ended the flight prematurely, I had a fantastic time on the arrival (KLM10QM).

Thank you again to the excellent controllers.
