atc-discussion EGPX 28th March 1100-1730z ROSTER

Hi all,

CTP is coming up and we'll need some help from EGPX; we will be opening TWO Scottish Area Control positions for the event. Routes won't be posted until a day before the event but it's likely one or two tracks will pass through EGPX airspace.

It would be appreciated if EGPX_CTR could be staffed from 1130z-1730z. Also ATC at underlying aerodromes would be appreciated too.

This will be rostered so controllers who would like to control should reply to this thread with their availability. (Please add an additional comment if you are scheduled to control EGGX with your times also please)

It should be noted (just in case) EGPX controllers must be C1 rated or above.

This thread will close on Wednesday Evening.

Available throughout Steven. Not sure when I will be rostered for Shanwick but they are aware I may be needed for domestic sectors earlier on in the day.

Just wondering now that I have my S1 at some point after I operated at EGCC GND would it be possible to control EGAA. How would I go about getting that sector or is Belfast not available

      Hi all,
I've noticed recently a few instances where GND controllers are refusing to give aircraft departing 23R at EGCC holding point J1 due to the real-world situation of Max 8's being parked there. Whilst I understand that we are a simulation network, and we try to replicate real-world circumstance where practical, I don't think that insisting on limitations that act to the detriment of people flying out of Manchester conforms with the spirit of the game.
If pilots wish to simulate the max 8's blocking J1 they are, of course, more than welcome to, but if someone specifically requests J1, it should be given. Real world, the lack of access to J1 is causing real issues to airlines operating long-haul routes, it makes no sense to impose the same limitation on people wishing to fly those same routes on VATSIM.
      Contrary opinions or thoughts welcome.

      Hello Moderators,
I have been waiting a long time for the next OBS ATC training session so I can carry on with my training. I have finished the theory course already. Hopefully I will get one soon.

      Hello all,
When setting up an atis, I like to add additional information such as: "Delivery is closed" etc. However, whenever a new atis is updated, the information resets itself, removing my addition information and the only way I see of doing it is to re-add the information every time a new atis is updated. Is there a better way of doing this?

      Hi all,
As I see this coming up on Slack, I thought I'd post this here while the official BoG blog post is being proof-read and posted: the UK2 server has been taken out of service and the UK1 server has been renamed to just "UK". In your client, you would need to change the server to "UK". However, for voice, I've found there's no need to change any of your voice configuration settings as far as servers are concerned.
From personal experience, some of the servers (Germany, in particular) seem to have some problems with the METARs being displayed: https://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=79161 , however, the UK server seems to have no issue with them. I hope this helps somebody while we all settle down with the change and the official announcement becomes public 😄
