Thank you, and goodbye!
Hi all,
It's with sadness that I have, tonight, resigned from my position as Operations Manager. Since I became an active member of VATSIM UK in March 2013, I have loved every single minute I've spent on the network as a trainee, mentor, and staff member. Arguably, I have, at times, spent too many minutes on the network... but all for a good cause! Unfortunately, the pressures of balancing my final year in Sixth Form with my social life has left little room for VATSIM, and it would be unfair for me to pretend any longer that I have the necessary time to commit to this demanding role.
I'd like to think I've achieved a lot during my time as a staff member, and I'm continuously amazed at all the good work I am seeing in taking VATSIM UK forward. Having moved about a bit in terms of my staff positions, I've been able to really see the amount of effort that other staff members put into their work, and I've also had the pleasure of working with a huge number of members to produce some pretty impressive content, most notably getting the sector file to where it is today (contributors - don't worry, I'm not abandoning it straight away!). Staff work tirelessly on and off stage to maintain what is such a brilliant community, and I've been incredibly lucky to be part of it. In fact, members do too, and please don't stop showing the enthusiasm that I've witnessed, particularly with projects such as Central Training.
You might see me around here and there, but for now, it's a pretty conclusive final wave from me!
That said, I'll be remaining in post until a replacement is announced by Simon, so keep sending me your operational related queries / documentation - they'll all be passed on if necessary.
Best wishes for 2017 (where did January go?!),
Harry
