Hi all,

I hope you enjoyed today's Cross the Pond. A big well done to everyone who was involved in organising, controlling and flying in it!

I just wanted to make you aware of a few changes happening within the Member Services Department. Firstly, Member Services will be taking over a lot of the Training Department's administrative tasks from this evening at 23:59BST. These include the following:

  • Answering general enquiries about becoming an ATCO in VATSIM UK through the Helpdesk.
  • The management of S2/S3/C1 waiting lists
  • Tracking and chasing lack of student availability and session requests
  • Tracking and chasing late mentoring reports

As time progresses, Member Services will take on more administrative roles within Training and the other departments in the Division - aiming to free up the various Department’s workload to the point where they can concentrate on their primary goals such as training students or developing new web services. When new roles move over to Member Services, I will communicate the changes through the various channels.

Secondly, I wanted to welcome both @Adam Meade and @Matthew Wilson to the team.

Adam joins us from his previous TG Manager role and brings with him a wealth of experience from the Training Department, especially around S2 training. He will play a key part in helping us streamline the tasks around ATC training and improving on procedures that have already been established by him and the other TG Managers.

Matthew joins us from the Pilot Training team which is currently being restructured due to the new pilot ratings. Matthew is a long-standing UK member and has experience across the whole Division. Combined with his real life experiences in administration, Matthew will be a real asset to the team. For the meantime, Matthew will continue his Training responsibilities as Administrative Manager
Initial Flight Instructor during the transition of pilot ratings.

I will continue to communicate further changes to the department in the coming weeks.

Thank you.

Tom
