Hi all,

Whilst provision of an ATIS is principally the responsibility of the TWR controller, members on all positions - including DEL/GND - are permitted to operate a VATSIM ATIS at any time. Please note that ATIS use is governed by the Global Controller/ATIS Information Policy.

The following tutorial shows how to set-up a basic ATIS using EuroScope:

1. Click on the runway icon on the EuroScope ribbon for the runway selection dialog;

2. Scroll down to find the aerodrome for which you would like to set-up an ATIS (typing its ICAO code will move you there more quickly), select your departure/arrival runways, and click 'OK';

3. Click on the letter shown on the EuroScope ribbon - the letter displayed depends on the current/most recent ATIS information letter;

4. Ensure that the ATIS file content box is populated - if it is, proceed to step seven; if it isn't, proceed to step five;

5. Click 'Browse';

6. Navigate to '...\UK\Data\ATIS' (in your EuroScope directory), select the 'ATIS.txt' file, and click 'Open' - the ATIS file content box will now populate;

7. Enter the ICAO code of the aerodrome for which you would like to set-up an ATIS into the 'ATIS airport' box, and click 'Get METAR';

8. Ensure that the ATIS maker URL is populated - if it isn't, copy and paste into it the following URL;

http://uniatis.net/atis.php?arr=$arrrwy($atisairport)&dep=$deprwy($atisairport)&apptype=ILS&info=$atiscode&metar=$metar($atisairport)

9. Tick 'Automatically generate new ATIS using the URL', and press 'Test URL';

10. The 'Extracted URL' and 'Text ATIS and multiple record ATIS' boxes will populate;

11. Click 'Connect ATIS' and 'Start multiple record playback';

12. Check that your ATIS has appeared in the controller list, and that its frequency has appeared next to the ATIS letter on the EuroScope ribbon - your ATIS has now been set-up!

Is there a way to add items to the atis permanently? I notice that the text atis resets itself whenever the new atis information is updated.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear. I'm basically saying why I can't add extra information to the text atis without the text atis resetting itself to default whenever a new atis information is updated.

You should be adding them to the upper link, the ATIS maker URL, not the extracted URL and then it will work.
