Social Media Assistants - August Trial

Dear All

In line with our objective to get more of the membership involved with the division, during the month of August we are trialling a volunteer non-staff position of social media assistant.  They will be assisting the Marketing team in the lead up, during , and post event social media coverage.  The current 2 people that volunteered after a request for volunteers where made on slack are:

  • Layth Al Wakil
  • Loui Ringer

These volunteer non-staff members will be led by James B and will be trialling a range of initiatives regarding social media engagement for the following 3 events during August:

  • Staffed by Staff - 06/08
  • Essex Overload - 13/08
  • VATSIM UK - Live! 25-28/08

You should still approach James Brierley (Marketing Manager) as normal for any event related questions/ideas/issues.

"**PEOPLE OF LIVE*** The department of Community invites people (there will be a max of 3 selected) to volunteer (members that do not currently have any other role within the division) to assist the VATUK team in social media (Twitter/Facebook/Slack/Forum) activities over the weekend - those interested should send over (e-mail [email protected]) a short paragraph on why you want to get involved in addition to any other information you think is pertinent. Deadline is 31st July. ***END OF LINE*** "

The discussion channel does move quite quick Trevor :)

Yeah, sometimes when I log on after work (driving so...) I can't be bothered to read 80+ messages so skim through...   If @everyone had been tagged I'd have had a notification but hey ho...

Thank you guys & a BIG thank you to Barrie & James for giving me an opportunity like this, I'm very grateful. I hope this will open some new doors for me within VATUK. I'm really looking forward to what this month will bring me & the lads especially with Live! :D

May I inquire as to why you don't list this year's Mid Summer Madness XI event as an event that takes place in August.  It is the UK's longest running event, probably the inspiration for Live! and it takes place in August.

Hi Stuart

Originally the intention was for the trail to run only at Live at the end of August, however this was extended to include S/S and Essex Overload as events that each member of the team were available for.  The list above was not intended to be an exhaustive list - only the events the trial covered. I can see that this is ambiguous as I've not employed the word 'following' before 3 for which I apologise.
